IP Location
The IP Location tool in DevKnife is an offline IP geolocation app for macOS. It lets you find the geographical location of any IPv4 or IPv6 address in a simple native GUI. The tool works entirely offline by using a local MMDB database, so your queries never leave your Mac.

Using the Tool
Section titled “Using the Tool”- Open DevKnife and select IP Location from the sidebar.
- Enter the IP address you want to look up.
- Press Enter or click Lookup.
- The tool will display details such as:
- Country
- Region / State
- City
- Latitude & Longitude (if available)
Database
Section titled “Database”The IP Location tool relies on an MMDB database (MaxMind DB format).
DevKnife does not ship with a database by default.
You can download a free database from one of the following sources:
The tool can also work with any commercially available MMDB database. Commercial databases typically offer better accuracy than free ones.
After downloading the database file, save it locally on your computer. In DevKnife, open the IP Location tool, click the database dropdown in the top-right corner, and select your .mmdb
file.
Once added, DevKnife will use it for all lookups.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”All lookups are performed locally using your chosen database file.
No data is sent to external servers, ensuring full privacy.
